Pick's Disease Drug Discovery Service

Pick's disease (PiD) is a unique subtype of frontotemporal lobar degeneration characterized pathologically by aggregates of 3-Repeat tau (3R-Tau). Creative Biolabs offers one-stop solutions to support PiD disease research, providing comprehensive in vitro and in vivo analysis services for global clients. Creative Biolabs' one-stop PiD analysis platform provides standardized and personalized immune evaluation experiments, covering in vivo and in vitro pharmacodynamic evaluation experiments, immunological experiments and expression testing for PiD researchers.

Introduction

PiD is a rare neurodegenerative disorder and it affects parts of the brain that control behavior, emotions, personality, and language. PiD corresponds to a form of tauopathy consisting of spherical intra-neuronal tau inclusions, which is mainly composed predominately of tau isoforms containing three microtubule binding domain (MTBD) repeats such as 3R tau. In PiD, intraneuronal tau aggregates assemble into characteristic spherical Pick bodies (PBs) which are the hallmark of classical PiD. Tau from PBs correspond to another doublet (tau 55 and 64) with a minor variant at 69 kDa. There are four patterns of PiD tau neuropathology.

One Stop Solution

As drug developers continue to advance science in PiD field, it is imperative that preclinical partners offer innovative approaches to combat the drug development challenge. Creative Biolabs is competent in providing multifaceted approaches for the assessment of PiD. Our facilities are fitted with advanced equipment and technologies for preclinical studies, and our staff is highly trained to enhance study results including histology, biomarker analysis, and drug development.

Creative Biolabs can use complementary immunohistochemical (IHC) and histochemical techniques to describe the patterns of regional neuropathological burden in a series of samples with PiD. We also possess a variety of monoclonal/polyclonal Tau antibodies as well as corresponding cell lines to support custom solutions. Creative Biolabs provides customized services for global clients including but not limited to the following aspects.

  • Pick's Tau protein and filament isolation
  • Microscopic analysis
  • Examination of Phase I-IV Regions with mature Tau markers
  • Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis of in vitro polymerized tau samples
  • Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) analysis of in vitro assembled filaments
  • Filaments pairing research

Research data provided by Creative Biolabs will offer novel insights into the progression of PiD neuropathology, which has important implications for Pick's disease (PiD) biomarker development and animal models of tau transmission that are important for testing emerging disease-modifying therapies.
