Product Overview

Description

Mouse anti-human LOX-1 (soluble) antibody, recognizes the lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor (LOX-1), which is a 31kDa protein of the C-type lectin superfamily. This receptor mediates the recognition, internalization and degradation of oxidized LDL. It is a type II membrane protein with a typical C-type lectin structure at the C-terminus outside the cell, which can recognize ligands. The activation of LOX-1 by oxidized LDL can cause endothelial cell changes, such as reducing the release of nitric oxide and increasing the expression of adhesion molecules. LOX-1 also binds activated platelets and apoptotic cells. The expression of LOX-1 is induced by pro-atherosclerotic conditions such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension and diabetes, and therefore seems to promote the pathogenesis of vascular diseases, especially atherosclerosis. It can be cleaved by an unknown protease in the extracellular proximal membrane region to release the soluble form of LOX-1 (aa58-273), which is recognized by the mouse anti-human LOX-1 (soluble) antibody clone LOX19-22.
