Overview of Pain Drug Discovery
Pain has been an active area of drug discovery, probably because there are many drugs, such as opiates, that have relatively pronounced results for many types of pain, but at the expense of many undesirable side effects. Opiates are highly addictive and have a high prevalence of substance use disorders in patients receiving chronic pain treatment. Currently, trying to find new painkiller drugs is an urgent task. The lack of suitable pain models is a key challenge in pain drug discovery. Most drug candidates show excellent analgesic effects in the preclinical stage but poor performance in clinical trials, which hinders drug discovery. To address this issue, Creative Biolabs has created many appropriate preclinical pain models.
