Product Overview

Description

β-Secretase 1 (BACE1) is a new type of membrane-bound aspartyl protease that can cleave β-amyloid precursor protein (βAPP) to generate the N-terminus of the Aβ domain. The membrane-bound C-terminal fragment produced by β secretase cleavage is then cleaved by γ secretase, resulting in the production and secretion of Aβ. The amyloidogenic peptide Aβ is the main factor in the etiology of Alzheimer's disease.
