iPSC and iPSC-derived Cells
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are a type of stem cells that are generated from embryonic cells or adult somatic cells, such as mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), fibroblasts and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) through a process called reprogramming. This reprogramming involves introducing OCT4, SOX2, KLF4, and L-MYC genes by episomal plasmids or retroviral transduction that are essential for maintaining pluripotency. iPSCs have the remarkable ability to self-renew and develop into any type of somatic cell, making them valuable and powerful tools for disease modeling and drug discovery.

Case Study
Microglia are immune cells found in the brain that help maintain the health and function of neural cells. Dysfunction in microglia has been linked to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, like Alzheimer's disease, where they may contribute to the progression of symptoms and cognitive decline.
We have optimized a culture protocol to generate single microglia from iPSCs, which specifically express Iba1, P2Y12, and TREM2, for modeling neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases.
