Description
Neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and Huntington's disease The result of the gradual loss of neuron structure and function, Causes neuron death. 3-Phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase catalyzes the conversion of 3-phosphoglycerate to 3-phosphohydroxypyruvate, which is an important step in the phosphorylation pathway of L-serine biosynthesis. It is also essential in the synthesis of cysteine and glycine, which is located downstream. This pathway is the only pathway that synthesizes multiple plant pathways in most organisms except plants. Nevertheless, it is still suspected that the phosphorylation pathway involved in PHGDH plays an important role in the synthesis of serine used in plant development signals. Since serine and glycine act as neurotrophic factors in the developing brain, PHGDH has been shown to be highly expressed in glial and astrocytes during nerve development.
