Description
Heme oxygenase 1 (HO1) cuts the heme ring at the α-methylene bridge to form diheparin. Subsequently, Biliverdin reductase converts Biliverdin into bilirubin. Under physiological conditions, the activity of heme oxygenase is highest in the spleen, where aging red blood cells are isolated and destroyed. Since excessive free heme makes cells sensitive, it has a cytoprotective effect. Our HO1 ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay for quantitative measurement of HO1 in human serum, plasma and cell culture supernatant. The density of the color is directly proportional to the amount of HO1 captured from the sample.
