Description

Histamine is an organic nitrogen-containing compound that participates in local immune responses and regulates the physiological functions of the intestinal tract and acts as a neurotransmitter. Histamine participates in the inflammatory response and plays an important role as a mediator of itching. As part of the immune response to foreign pathogens, histamine is produced by basophils and mast cells found in nearby connective tissue. Histamine can increase the permeability of capillaries to white blood cells and certain proteins, allowing them to come into contact with pathogens in infected tissues. This ELISA kit uses competitive ELISA as the method. The microtiter plate provided in the kit is pre-coated with histamine. During the reaction, the histamine in the sample or standard competes with the fixed amount of histamine on the solid support for the site on the histamine-specific biotinylated detection antibody.
