Description
Aging is considered to be the tumor suppressor mechanism and the root cause of aging. Senescence represents a state of stagnation in which cells remain viable, but are not stimulated to divide by serum or passage in culture. Senescent cells showed increased cell size, senescence-related expression of β-galactosidase (SA-β-Gal) activity, and changes in gene expression patterns. The senescence detection kit is used to histochemically detect the activity of SA-β-Gal in cultured cells and tissue sections, which is a known characteristic of senescent cells. SA-β-Gal is only found in senescent cells, but not in senescent, resting or immortal cells.
