Product Overview

Description

Somatostatin receptor 1 is one of five subtypes known as SSTR1-5. They are G protein-coupled receptors characterized by seven transmembrane helices with an extracellular amino-terminal domain and an intracellular carboxy-terminus. These receptors play a role in regulating many physiological processes; such as the secretion of insulin; glycogen; and growth hormone; and cell growth induced by neuronal excitation in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Somatostatin receptors are activated by somatostatin secreted by neural and endocrine cells.
