Description
Glutathione reductase (GR) is a member of pyridine nucleotide-disulfide bond oxidoreductase, which includes closely related enzymes thioredoxin reductase, lipoamide dehydrogenase, trypan thione reductase and Mercury ion reductase. It catalyzes the reduction of dithioglutathione (GSSG) to maintain its role of reduced glutathione (GSH). In most eukaryotic cells, GR maintains an increased [GSH] / [GSSG] ratio and participates in a variety of important functions, such as the detoxification of reactive oxygen species and the biosynthesis of protein and DNA. Our glutathione reductase ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay for quantitative determination of GR in human serum, plasma and cell culture supernatant. The density of the color is directly proportional to the amount of GR captured from the sample.
