Product Overview

Description

PER1 (Period Circadian Regulator 1), a transcriptional repressor, is a component of the circadian clock and a member of the Period family. PER1 is expressed throughout peripheral tissues but expression is most significant in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) region of the brain which functions as the primary circadian pacemaker in mammals. PER1 is expressed in an oscillating rhythm with a period of about 24 hours which is maintained even in constant darkness.
