Mouse Anti-Human CCR2 Monoclonal Antibody (CBP3881)

Description

CCR2 is a chemokine receptor that binds monocyte chemotactic proteins (MCP-1, 2, 3, and 4). Two splice variants (CCR2A and CCR2B) were originally described for CCR2. These variants have different terminal carboxyl tails. Adhesion of monocytes to the arterial endothelium and subsequent migration to the intima is a central event in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. CCR2 and MCP-1 are related to atherosclerotic plaque. MCP-1 is induced by modified LDL in endothelial cells and may trigger strong adhesion of monocytes to vascular endothelium under flow conditions. The local overexpression of MCP-1 in the blood vessel wall induces the infiltration of macrophages and the formation of atherosclerotic lesions. Obesity causes an inflammatory state, which is associated with many important clinical complications, including insulin resistance, diabetes, atherosclerosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver. CCR2 affects the development of obesity and related adipose tissue inflammation.
