Description

Catecholamine (CA) is a monoamine, an organic compound with catechol and side chain amines. Catecholamines are derived from the amino acid tyrosine, which is derived from dietary sources and the synthesis of phenylalanine. Two catecholamines (norepinephrine and dopamine) act as neuromodulators in the central nervous system and as hormones in the blood circulation. Catecholamine norepinephrine is a neuromodulator of the peripheral sympathetic nervous system, but it is also present in the blood. It will cause general physiological changes and prepare the body for physical exercise. Some typical effects are increased heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and the general response of the sympathetic nervous system. Our catecholamine ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay that can quantitatively measure CA in human serum, plasma and cell culture supernatant within 90 minutes. The density of the color is directly proportional to the amount of catecholamine captured from the sample.
