Probable ATP-dependent RNA helicase DDX20; also known as DEAD-box helicase 20 and gem-associated protein 3 (GEMIN3); is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the DDX20 gene.

The DEAD box protein characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) is a putative RNA helicase. They are involved in many cellular processes involving changes in RNA secondary structure; such as translation initiation; nuclear and mitochondrial splicing; and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution pattern; some members of this family are thought to be involved in embryogenesis; spermatogenesis; and cell growth and division. This gene encodes the DEAD box protein; which has ATPase activity and is an integral part of the survival of motor neuron (SMN) complexes. SMN is a gene product of spinal muscular atrophy; which may play a catalytic role in the function of SMN complex on RNP.
