Description
Mouse anti-mouse CD14 antibody recognizes mouse CD14, which is a 55kD sugar-phosphoinositide-linked cell surface protein that also exists in soluble form. The expression of CD14 is restricted to the myeloid lineage, and is mainly expressed on peripheral blood mononuclear cells, weakly expressed on granulocytes, but not expressed on myeloid progenitor cells. The CD14 molecule acts as a pattern recognition receptor and can bind lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and other microbial products such as lipoprotein acids, lipoproteins and peptidoglycans. The binding of LPS to CD14 mediates the innate immune response to LPS, and the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/MD-2 complex is required to effectively signal.
