Target Overview

Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) is a protein located on the surface of oligodendrocytes and the outermost layer of myelin sheaths within the central nervous system. While its precise physiological function is still being fully determined, MOG is critically important in neuropathology as a primary target for the immune system in certain autoimmune demyelinating diseases. The presence of antibodies against MOG is the defining characteristic of MOG antibody disease (MOGAD), an inflammatory condition distinct from multiple sclerosis (MS), and is used as a key diagnostic biomarker.
