Description
The cellular uptake of iron is through the transferrin receptor occupied by the ligand into the specialized endosome through receptor-mediated endocytosis. Acidification of the endosome causes the release of iron. The ferritin-receptor complex is then recycled to the cell surface, returning to neutral pH, and subsequently losing the affinity of ferritin for its receptor. The transferrin receptor is necessary for the development of red blood cells and the nervous system. Our TFR ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay for quantitative measurement of human TFR in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. The density of the color is directly proportional to the amount of TFR captured from the sample.
