Dextrans are hydrophilic polysaccharides characterized by their moderate-to-high molecular weight (3-200 kD). These molecules can exist in either charged or uncharged forms depending on the conjugated fluorophore. Due to their low immunogenic properties, dextrans are often used as effective tracers in various applications.
