The medium is a fully defined low-insulin (LI), serum-free and animal-free medium that can be used to differentiate human embryonic stem (ES) cells and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. It is based on the APEL formula released by Andrew Elefanty and lacks undefined ingredients, such as protein-free hybridoma culture medium.
