Description

The mouse anti-human histone deacetylase 3 antibody recognizes histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3), also known as SMAP45.
HDAC3 is a ubiquitously expressed histone deacetylase, mainly located in the nucleus within the transcriptional co-regulatory complex (Song et al. 2019). By inhibiting the activity of multiple proteins, HDAC3 plays an important role in the physiological homeostasis of many tissues (Kwon et al. 2018). In addition to playing an enzymatic role in the catalysis of deacetylation reactions, HDAC3 can also regulate chromatin accessibility and the dynamics of co-expression complexes by acting as chaperone proteins or scaffold-anchoring proteins instead of enzymes (Song et al. 2019). HDAC3 contributes to inflammation, cancer and degenerative neurological diseases, and HDAC3 inhibitors are considered as potential treatments (Cao et al. 2018). The overexpression of HDAC3 is associated with poor prognosis of many cancer types, but the role of HDAC3 in cancer is tissue-specific. HDAC3 can also modulate the response to anticancer drugs (Kwon et al. 2018).
