Description
The mouse anti-human histone deacetylase 4 antibody recognizes histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4), also known as histone deacetylase A.
Histones play a key role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. Histone acetylation/deacetylation changes the structure of chromosomes and affects the access of transcription factors to DNA. Histone deacetylase 4 is encoded by the HDAC4 gene and belongs to class II of the histone deacetylase/acuc/apha family. It has histone deacetylase activity and can inhibit transcription when linked to a promoter. The protein does not directly bind to DNA, but binds through the transcription factors MEF2C and MEF2D. It appears to interact with RbAp48 and HDAC3 in a multi-protein complex (provided by RefSeq, July 2008).
