Description
Aluminum is thought to form a chelate complex with cochineal, turning the molecule positively charged, allowing it to bind to low-density acidic substrates such as mucins. Stain for mucins, which are secretions produced by a variety of epithelial and connective tissue cells. It can also be used to stain encapsulated fungi and Cryptococcus.
