A spontaneously immortal wild-type Schwann cell line was established from the dorsal root ganglia (DRG) of C57BL6 mice and adjacent peripheral nerves. Immortalized C57BL6 mouse Schwann cells retain the characteristics of Schwann cells, such as the production and secretion of various neurotrophic factors and cytokines (NGF and GDNF) that promote neuron survival.

Application Notes
The basic medium for this cell line is PriNeu III medium provided by Creative Biolabs, catalog number. NCL-2105-P169-AM. To make a complete growth medium, please add the following ingredients to the basic medium: Fetal Bovine Serum (NCL -2105-P170-AM)* Final concentration is 5%, recombinant human NRG1 (NCL-2105-P171-AM) final concentration is 20 ng/mL, penicillin/streptomycin solution (NCL-2105-P172- AM ) to a final concentration of 1%.
Change the media every 2-3 days.
Carbon dioxide (CO2): 5%, temperature: 37.0
* Unless otherwise specified, do not use heat-inactivated FBS for cell culture.
