Description

The expansion kit for human neural progenitor cells includes these cells and a specially designed medium for their growth. These progenitor cells are sourced from NIH-endorsed H9 human embryonic stem cells (hESCs). They grow as a layer of adherent cells, capable of smoothly transitioning into various neuron types. Further examination revealed that even after ten passages, these neural progenitor cells maintained a normal diploid karyotype in culture. This kit is versatile for a range of neuroscientific studies, including neurotoxicity, neurogenesis, electrophysiology, neurotransmitter, and receptor assessments. The serum-free medium provided supports the sustained growth and expansion of these human neural progenitor cells alongside FGF-2 supplementation, which is incorporated in the kit.

Cells: When stored under the recommended storage conditions (liquid nitrogen), cells are stable up to five years. Do not expose to high temperature. After expiration, discard all remaining reagents. We recommend using cells within ten generations.

Medium: Medium should be stored at -20 °C, until ready to use. After thawing, the medium should be stored at 2-8 °C, and given a 1-month expiration dating. It is recommended to divide into small portions to avoid repeated heating before each use.

Quality Control

Each batch of human neural progenitor cells express Nestin and Sox2 at high levels, and Oct-4 at low levels. The ability of cells to differentiate into multiple neuron phenotypes and maintain normal karyotype after multiple passages was verified. No mycoplasma contamination.

Shelf Life

Stable until expiry date (EXP) on label.
