Description
Mouse anti-human αB crystal protein antibody can recognize αB crystal protein, also known as heat shock protein β-5, heat shock 20 kD protein, and kidney cancer antigen NY-REN-27 (Rosenthal fiber component).
Lens proteins are divided into two categories: taxa-specific or enzymes, and ubiquitous. The latter constitutes the main protein of the vertebrate eye lens and maintains the transparency and refractive index of the lens. Since the lens central fiber cells lose their nucleus during development, these crystal proteins are made and retained throughout life, making them extremely stable proteins. The lens of mammalian lens is divided into α, β and γ groups. β and γ lens proteins are also considered to be superfamily. The α and β groups are further divided into acidic and basic groups. There are seven protein regions in crystal protein: four homologous motifs, a connecting peptide, and N- and C-terminal extensions.
