Description
ARG1 (Arginase 1) is a marker of M2 anti-inflammatory macrophage subgroup, which can hydrolyze L-arginine into urea and ornithine, and it can be used in wound healing, antiviral immune response and atherosclerosis Play an important role in A genetic defect in this enzyme leads to argininemia, an autosomal recessive genetic disease characterized by hyperammonemia. Recent studies have shown that intracellular pathogens induce the expression of ARG1 in mouse macrophages through the Toll-like receptor (TLR) pathway. The absence of this enzyme in macrophages facilitates the survival of the host. Other studies have shown that ARG1 also plays a role in T cell responses, and selective antagonists of ARG1 may prove beneficial in fighting diseases that improperly suppress T cell responses
