Product Overview

Description

Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is produced by prostate cells. Men with prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, or prostate infection or inflammation have elevated PSA levels in the blood. It exists in the blood in the form of free PSA and total PSA (PSA attached to protein molecules). Free PSA increases more in prostatic hypertrophy, and total PSA is related to cancer. When prostate cancer occurs, PSA is usually 2.5 to 10 ng/ml. At the same time, free PSA and total PSA are tested to determine which prostate disease a person has. Free PSA antibodies are produced by hybridomas produced by the fusion of SP2/0-Ag14 myeloma and B lymphocytes obtained from mice immunized with free PSA protein purified from human semen.
