Product Overview

Description

Astrocytes constitute 20-40% of the total number of cells in the mammalian brain. Unlike neurons, astrocytes lack propagated electrical signals. But they can affect neural circuits and behavior through calcium dynamics to regulate synaptic plasticity and behaviour. Human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)-derived astrocytes are a useful in vitro model for exploring the effect of astrocyte calcium dysfunction in CNS diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.

iNeu™ Human Astrocytes for Calicum Sensor Assay from Creative Biolabs are derived from human iPSCs and expresses typical astrocyte markers (GFAP and S100β). Besides, we introduce calcium sensors into those cells, which respond to intracellular calcium changes in the 605nm-625nm fluorescent range. NCL-2103-P59 has a great potential for uncovering the mechanisms of astrocyte calcium dysfunction in CNS diseases.
