Product Overview

Description

Mouse anti-transferrin antibodies can recognize the N-terminal domain of human transferrin and have been shown to block the binding of transferrin to the transferrin receptor (CD71). The clone HTF-14 cannot recognize the receptor-bound transferrin. Clone HTF-14 recognizes the conformational epitope involving key Lys-144 residues in the transferrin N-valve ring, which is also essential for the binding of the N-valve to the transferrin receptor (Mason et al. 2009)
Transferrin is a 77 kDa plasma protein synthesized by the liver that is involved in iron transport. Each transferrin molecule has two domains, and both domains can carry 2 iron ions. The iron/transferrin complex is essential for hemoglobin synthesis and certain types of cell division.
