Description
The human SCN9A gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of Nav1.7 (voltage-gated sodium channel).Mutations in the SCN9A channel are associated with several genetic diseases, including erythematous limb pain (vasodilation with burning pain), paroxysmal extreme pain disorder, and congenital indifference to pain).Nav1.7 is up-regulated in prostate cancer and inflammation, and is a therapeutic target for cancer biomarkers and pain therapy.
