Product Overview

Description

DC-SIGN is a C-type lectin with high affinity for ICAM3 molecules. It binds various microorganisms by recognizing the high mannose glycoprotein on the envelope. It is particularly useful as a receptor for many viruses (such as HIV and hepatitis C). L-SIGN is a transmembrane receptor, which is called L-SIGN due to its expression in the endothelial cells of lymph nodes and liver. This protein is related to the innate immune system and can recognize a variety of evolutionary pathogens ranging from parasites to viruses. The protein is organized into three different domains: the N-terminal transmembrane domain, the tandem repeat neck domain and the C-type lectin carbohydrate recognition domain.
