Product Overview

Description

AFP (α-Feto protein) is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of approximately 70 kDa. It is the main protein in fetal development and will decrease to a low level after birth. In healthy adults, the AFP content in the serum is less than 20 ng/ml. When hepatocellular carcinoma or testicular germ cell tumor occurs, serum AFP increases. Therefore, it is a useful marker for the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma and germ cell tumors. In addition, for pregnant women, the concentration of AFP in the blood is 10-150 ng/ml. High levels of AFP can indicate neural tube defects in the fetus, such as spina bifida. AFP antibody is produced from a hybridoma produced by the fusion of SP2/0-Ag14 myeloma and B lymphocytes obtained from mice immunized with AFP protein purified from human hepatocellular carcinoma
