Product Overview

Description

Dicortin was first discovered because a defect in the gene encoding it is responsible for X-linked anencephaly, a rare brain malformation in which abnormal neuronal migration during development leads to smooth cerebral cortex (1-4). The name doublecortin is derived from the unusual layering of the cortex in this form of anencephaly, which appears to have a second deep neuronal cortex.
