Description
The HASTR/ci35 cell line is a novel, conditionally immortalized human astrocyte cell line developed to advance the study of neurobiology. These cells exhibit robust proliferative capacity and express key astrocyte markers, including Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP).
Functionally, HASTR/ci35 cells are highly active; they promote the formation of dendritic networks in neuronal co-cultures and possess significant transporter activities for glutamate, adenosine, and organic ions. Combining the critical characteristics of primary astrocytes with the benefit of unlimited scalability, the HASTR/ci35 line is an invaluable tool for investigating human astrocyte function, transporter biology, and their roles in both normal brain physiology and a wide range of neurological disorders.
